New and Exciting Disney Updates!
Disney parks are always expanding to enhance the magic for families of all sizes. Well, they are at it again! Here are some of the exciting updates to come in the near future:
A long time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Disney Imagineers dreamed about bringing Star Wars to the parks. This is now becoming a reality. Star Wars, Galaxy’s Edge, will be opening in Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019. The lands are set in a remote trading port on the edge of wild space. You’ll find yourself in the middle of the action either piloting the Millennium Falcon or riding aboard the Star Destroyer. And what would Star Wars be without a local cantina? RUN DISNEY PRINCESS STYLE!!!
And they’re off! Walt Disney World has set the dates for their exciting Marathons for 2018. There are lots of great options to choose from and all are specifically themed. Today we’re going to focus on February fun with the Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Join the Princesses and make every mile magical. This is the only time that it’s ok to trade the glass slippers for running shoes. Friday, February 23rd will kick off the festivities with the Princess 5K run through the Future World and World Showcase. Princesses ages 5 and older and their families can take part in this fun race . The race ends with a memory-making storybook finish perfect for a princess and her royal court in the family reunion character party.
Saturday morning starts bright and early with the Princess Enchanted 10K. This is a timed race through Epcot, Yacht Club, andBeach Club. There will be great family entertainment along the way, as well as some real characters rooting you on!
If you want to give the kids a little time to burn off their energy, head over to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. They will be hosting kid dashes and a 1 mile run. These activities are for ages 13 and under and all participants will receive a metal. Here’s the details:
runDisney Kids Dashes Age Groups:
- 12 months and under – Diaper Dash for crawlers
- 1-4 years old – 100m dash
- 4-8 years old – 200m dash
On Sunday, February 25th, The Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon will celebrate 10 years! The 13.1 miles is filled with fun, memory making moments. The run winds through the most magical place on Earth, including the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Princesses of all skill levels are welcome to join the fun. Everyone earns her very own 10th Anniversary Disney Princess Half Marathon Finisher Medal.
Up for a real challenge? Then the Glass Slipper Challenge is for you! When you sign up for the Enchanted 10K on Saturday and the Princess 1/2 Marathon on Sunday, you will joining the 5 year anniversary celebration of this amazing 19.3 miles and immediately become my hero!
All of these events come with great goody bags, characters cheering on the side lines and the feeling of great achievement. Be sure to visit the runDisney Health and Fitness Expo in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. This is where you pick up your registration packet, and check out all of the race apparel.
