Walt Disney World’s Candlelight Processional at Epcot is a breathtaking retelling of the Christmas story in words and music complete with a 50 piece orchestra, a full choir and celebrity guest narrators.
Each night, a celebrity narrator tells the biblical tale of a savior born to a virgin in Bethlehem. Gorgeous choral pieces performed by a 50 piece orchestra and various choirs are interwoven with the narration, inspiring the audience with songs of hope and joy. The choir is entirely made up of members of Disney’s Voices of Liberty (red & black attire), the Cast Member choir (green robes), and visiting high school and guest choirs (gold robes). In late 2014, with mixed emotions, Disney guests bid farewell to four beloved acts from around the World Showcase at Epcot. While we loved–and would surely miss these shows–we understood the need to refresh the entertainment atmosphere around World Showcase with new acts and experiences to fully immerse us in the culture of each country represented there. Since then, Disney introduced several new entertainment experiences to replace the old ones, and a few new ones were also added to enhance what remained. On my recent visit, I made a point to see all of these new performances and compare how I felt they stacked up to my old favorites. Disney World recently released the dates of one of my favorite holiday events…The Candlelight Processional. The event is held in the American Gardens Theaters in Epcot. The theater surrounds you in awesome sound and lights.
The annual Processional is the story of Christmas told by a celebrity narrator. They are joined by a 50 piece live orchestra and chior. The Choir is made up of cast members and changing guests choirs (from around the country) throughout the weeks. Each year, Disney finds several different guests to tell the story. They have many speakers that come back year after year and they always come up with someone new and exciting, too! Continue reading Disney World Candlelight Processional 2014
Summer at Disney World–the parks are open until the wee hours of the morning, all of the street shows are available at every turn, and the crowds are enjoying the splash pools and misters throughout the parks… It’s called “Summer Fun!” Among other great joys of summer, Walt Disney World brings out some of the best tribute bands for their “Sounds Like Summer” concerts in Epcot.
You still have time to grow your long hair and grab a pair of tight, leather pants and rock out to these stadium-style shows. It will be a “Beautiful Day” when you listen to great classics from U2. Be sure to “Take it Easy” with songs from the Eagles. I’m sure you will have a case of “Night Fever” while listening to the cool sounds of the Bee Gees. That’s nothing that a dose of “Bad Medicine” can’t handle, while playing the air guitar with the classic covers of Bon Jovi. Continue reading Sounds Like Summer at Walt Disney World!
The last fireworks of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth has fizzled down to earth in a twinkle of Disney magic at Epcot. There is nothing left to do now, but join the crowds heading toward the exits. But, what if you didn’t have to leave all that Disney magic right away? What if, you could linger and reflect on your day, while you watch the crowds go by? Well, now you can! Continue reading New “Epcot After Hours Wind Down!”
On April 10, 2014, people from around the world will unite in a singalong to commemorate the 50th anniversary of “It’s A Small World,” the Walt Disney classic attraction that opened at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. Continue reading Celebrate “It’s a Small World” 50th Annivesary with Disney
