My Husband won a stay in the Disneyland Dream Suite located in the New Orleans section of the park… Meaning we got to sleep inside Disneyland. Maybe I should reword that to “stay” inside Disneyland… You’ll see what I mean. Continue reading Disneyland Dream Suite
What a nice view from this hotel. I was very impressed with Paradise Pier. Being known as the less expensive of the 3 Disneyland Hotels, you can not go wrong with this hotel. The location is right across the street from the Grand Californian Hotel so it’s a quick walk to Downtown Disney and California Adventure. Continue reading Paradise Pier Hotel – Disneyland Resort
I had the chance to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms at the Disneyland Hotel, in September 2010. Let’s just say some magic is happening in here. Rooms are bright in color and the beds are super comfy.
These rooms seem classy, compared to the old rooms that were classic.
Disney did a great job and I think they got everything just right.
You have a small refrigerator, a couch, a small chair, a desk area and a nice dresser. Don’t forget to look for the hidden Mickeys. Continue reading New rooms at the Disneyland Hotel
Some time ago, Alan and I asked ourselves if people might like to read more than just our glowing reviews about all things Disney at Our Laughing Place. We thought that, perhaps, our fellow Disney travelers might enjoy reading what other fellow Disney travelers had to say about their adventures at Disney Destinations. I mean… what an innovative thought, right?
So we put our Mouse Ears together and developed a program where anyone who visited our website, www.ourlaugingplace.com, or purchased one of our iPhone Apps could submit a review to share with all of our DisneyKin. Every attraction, every park, every restaurant and cruise destination.. as well as all of the planning articles, reviews and our very own Our Laughing Place Travel service are available for review.
Of course, Alan and I still write Disney reviews, too. What we really enjoy, though, is reading what all you have to say; >) Come on over and join us at at Disney Traveler Reviews
Where ever we enjoy a Disney Vacation, whether it’s a Disney Theme Park or a Disney Resort or a Disney Cruise, Disney Dining is one of our favorite parts of the adventure! And, of course, what makes the experience even more fun is doing video reviews that we can bring back to Our Laughing Place and share with you:)
Recently, we sailed on Disney’s newest cruise ship, the Disney Dream where we enjoyed one of their new restaurant ideas, The Enchanted Garden. Continue reading Disney Dining – The Attraction That Spans EVERYTHING Disney
“Come celebrate Africa!” is the motto of the Animal Kingdom Lodge and, indeed, from moment one enters the driveway up to the resort the ‘feel’ of an African landscape prevails in touches like lighting made to look like small fire pits and an ambiance of an African plain. In pure Disney style, the resort takes elements of African life and weaves them together in a colorful montage that is both lyrical and metaphorical in its ambiance. From the “thatched” round roofs to the herds of wild animals cavorting across the balcony edges, the Animal Kingdom Lodge sweeps the imagination into another culture of the World.
Our concierge service began weeks before our actual arrival with contact by a concierge castmember that offered to handle all of our arrangements. Continue reading Animal Kingdom Lodge Concierge Review
There is news from Walt Disney World concerning how you schedule your dining at the restaurants in Walt Disney World. It is official. There is no way around the rule of only having one scheduled dining arrangement at a time. This means that people that tend to schedule multiple Disney Dining arrangements for the exact same time, and decide at the last minute where they want to dine, will no longer be able to do that.
Disney Dining had for a long time discouraged this practice, and it was against the rules, but there was no way to tell if someone had more than one arrangement. Now there is. I am glad because it may open up some of the nicer and harder to get locations, such as Le Cellier in Canada at Epcot, and Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom.
In particular, I hope it makes it easier to get dining at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. With very few sit down restaurants to choose from, it can be hard to get a decent dining time at that theme park. It can be tough to find dining at that Disney Theme Park on nights Fantasmic is showing.
Why stay at a Disney owned/operated resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida? Is there really a benefit? I can answer those two questions easily. Disney provides you with a vacation experience that is several steps beyond any other type of vacation. From the very moment you decide you want to take a vacation, the Disney Difference starts. It is that spark of magic; Disney magic.
Yes, right at the start, when you contact an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, Our Laughing Place Travel, you know Disney has trained these agencies, and that your travel agent will live up to a standard set by Disney. Disney specialized agencies are the best ones for planning Disney vacations, because you can be assured of having an agent who is all about Disney, and knows the Disney destinations.
The resorts at Walt Disney World are designed to provide more than just a place to sleep. Your resort will fill you with wonder, themed to perfection; be it the beaches of the Caribbean at Caribbean Beach Resort, or opening up your imagination with icons that are larger than life at All Star Movies Resort. You will experience an immersion into a worry free vacation, from the moment you check in. It is all about being Disney guest.
Disney World Resort offers a broad range of accommodations – 24 resorts that vary in price, allowing guests to pay for only the amenities that are important to them. Disney Value resort guests are treated to larger-than-life theming, swimming pools and playgrounds, arcade rooms and standard amenities – and with more than 8,000 rooms at four resorts, about one-third of Disney’s hotel accommodations fall into the Value category. Families who prefer the great outdoors can rent a campsite at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground (with nearly 800 available) and either pitch a tent or bring along an RV. Moderate resorts, Deluxe resorts and Deluxe Villa resorts are available for guests who prefer additional amenities during their stay. There is something for everyone at Walt Disney World. Immerse yourself in a vacation experience that will leave you filled with magical memories.
Here is what Disney considers to be the TOP FOUR BENEFITS of staying in a Disney resort.
Disney’s Magical Express – When guests bound for Disney owned-and-operated hotels are traveling via commercial airline to Orlando International Airport (OIA), they can arrange for special luggage tags that allow them to check their bags at their hometown airport, bypass baggage claim at OIA and board state-of-the-art motor coaches for complimentary transportation to the Vacation Kingdom, where their bags “magically” appear in their guestroom. When it’s time to say good-bye, guests board motor coaches for complimentary transportation back to OIA. An extra convenience: Guests traveling on participating airlines can check their baggage for the return flight at their Disney resort, saving time and luggage-toting at the airport.
Walt Disney World Transportation System – A Walt Disney World resort ID is the ticket for buses, monorails and boat launches that combine to connect virtually all areas of the Vacation Kingdom. With the convenience of “door-to-door” service throughout the resort, many guests enjoy their Walt Disney World vacation without a car. See Transportation Wizard
Extra Magic Hours – Each day, Disney hotel guests are offered exclusive time in a Walt Disney World theme park one hour prior to scheduled park opening, see park hours, or for up to three hours after park closing. The park varies from day to day. In addition, Disney water parks sometimes open one hour early for guests of Disney hotels. To take advantage of the additional time in the parks, guests must have their hotel ID plus a Magic Your Way ticket valid for the park(s) offering Extra Magic Hours.
Disney Dining Plan – Guests who combine their hotel accommodations and attractions tickets into a Magic Your Way Package are eligible to add dining for the convenience of a more-inclusive “cruise-style” vacation package. There are plan choices to satisfy different budgets and appetites. All include at least two meals and a snack for each night of a Disney resort stay. Savings and restaurant choices vary. OTHER NOTABLE ATTRIBUTES, BENEFITS AND PERKS OF DISNEY RESORTS
· Location, location, location – With their on-property location convenient to the theme parks, the Disney hotels are a haven for guests who seek a midday swimming break – or a siesta. For some guests, the convenience is even more specific…
· Many families with young children select accommodations in one of the “monorail resorts” – Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Reason: location near Magic Kingdom and convenient monorail transportation between the resorts and Magic Kingdom or Epcot.
· Many adult couples visiting without children enjoy the proximity to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk – as well as the nightlife of Disney’s BoardWalk. Walkways and water taxis connect the three resorts with the theme parks.
Theming – It’s not just a room. In the same way that Disney’s theme parks offer an escape to a timeless land of enchantment, a walk down small-town Main Street or a peek at the future, Disney hotels offer a mix of adventures. Disney Imagineers have created detailed, themed environments that include the romance and beauty of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to Victorian opulence at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Truly, if you are looking for the ultimate escape, a vacation that you can immerse yourself in, without any cares or worries, I recommend a Walt Disney World vacation.
Rix Lounge located at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort (my favorite Moderate Resort), is becoming a wonderful new and trendy”hot spot” at the Walt Disney World. Although the Walt Disney World Resort recently closed all of its nightclubs at Pleasure Island, in Downtown Disney, I think it’s important that people know that this location is a very appealing alternative.
The atmosphere and decor is what I would refer to as super-hip and sophisticated with throw-back touches here and there to the 70s. With lots of cozy, inviting sitting areas, a nice size dance floor, and a dj spinning top 40 remix hits, it offers an atmosphere for those just wanting to relax with some friends, as well as an area to “get your groove on”.
