Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Walt Disney World Resort for a whirlwind conference trip. My companions and I had just spent a good part of the day traveling from the west, north and east United States. Arriving mid-afternoon, we chose to spend the second half of our arrival day in Epcot. Spaceship Earth, Soarin! and food were the only things on our mind and time was of the essence! Continue reading Making Disney Parks’ FASTPASS System Work For You
On my recent trip to Disney World, I found myself truly enjoying watching the children running for their favorite characters. What amazed me is that there was not one character that attracted more attention than another. The line for Captain Hook was the same length as the line for Mickey and Minnie.
That got me to thinking about what makes a “favorite” character. Is it a warm memory, the way he/she looks or some other reason? So, I’ve decided to ask some of my fellow Our Laughing Place Travel Pixies. I must say that all of us at OLP are characters ourselves! Continue reading We’re All Disney Characters After All!
Walt Disney always put his family first, and believed that family values were very important. He was certainly a very important business man, and it is his amazing imagination that is behind the huge Disney empire that exists today. Even though he was so driven in business, his business was not first on the list of his life’s priorities. He said, “A man should never neglect his family for business.” Another quote attributed to Walt Disney is, “We believed in our idea – a family park where parents and children could have fun- together.” Continue reading A Disney Vacation Makes Magic For Family Bonding
This past month, I was preparing to travel to Disney World and to hop on a short Disney Cruise. I often experience nerves right before a trip. I asked myself, “Why does this happens to me?” I am always VERY excited to go to Disney World. It’s not like I haven’t done it a few dozen times. Then, it hit me…it’s all the “unknowns” about things like airport security and other aspects of the travel that causes my anxiousness. I’m hoping that this article can help transform travel jitters into Disney excitement by sharing a few of the ins and outs I discovered on my last Disney adventure.
For me, the most difficult part of travel is all of the TSA regulations and I discovered it’s really a lot easier than it sounds. Continue reading Disney Turns Travel Anxiety into Travel Excitement!
I have been so excited about this from the moment I heard about it. Cars is one of my favorite Disney movies, and I can watch it over and over again. So being able to go to Radiator Springs on Route 66 and seeing this movie come to life is going to be incredible – I just have to shout it:
Cars Land, coming to the heart of Disney’s California Adventure Park this summer!
There will be Character meet-and-greets, all-new attractions, entertainment, dining and shopping spots.
Disney World is well known for it’s incredible vacation magic. In recent years, it’s also become a haven for running enthusiasts. Throughout the year, RunDisney features several running events, all with different experiences and varying in length. I am not a runner, myself, but I can just imagine the feeling of my feet hitting the pavement and looking at the beautiful scenery of the Disney World parks.
In January, the year kicks off with the Marathon Weekend. The three days consist of several events. The first event is the Family 5 K Run on Friday evening. This race takes participants through Epcot. Saturday morning, the 1/2 Marathon begins outside of Epcot, runs up to Magic Kingdom, back to Epcot through Future World. Continue reading Running Toward Disney – Disney Marathons!
A few weeks ago I was chatting with a dear friend expecting her first child. As she and her husband were preparing to depart on their final vacation with just the two of them, she told me, ‘the next vacation will be to Disney World for our little boy’. While this was a lovely sentiment and, in truth, I can’t think of a better place for them to take their little one for his first vacation, it got me to thinking about some things. Mainly, why is it that there is the widespread misconception that Disney is for kids? Is it because merely the mention of the name Disney brings to mind fond childhood memories? Perhaps. Is it that as we age, we fail to continue to believe that magic truly exists? Maybe. But whatever the reason, it’s definitely out there that Disney is a ‘families with kids’ vacation. And not just Walt Disney World or Disneyland, but ALL Disney destinations seem to bring to mind this same idea to so many people. And yet, it couldn’t be further from the truth! In fact, the adult activity options are virtually endless. Continue reading Dispelling the ‘Disney is for Kids’ Myth
Some time ago, Alan and I asked ourselves if people might like to read more than just our glowing reviews about all things Disney at Our Laughing Place. We thought that, perhaps, our fellow Disney travelers might enjoy reading what other fellow Disney travelers had to say about their adventures at Disney Destinations. I mean… what an innovative thought, right?
So we put our Mouse Ears together and developed a program where anyone who visited our website, www.ourlaugingplace.com, or purchased one of our iPhone Apps could submit a review to share with all of our DisneyKin. Every attraction, every park, every restaurant and cruise destination.. as well as all of the planning articles, reviews and our very own Our Laughing Place Travel service are available for review.
Of course, Alan and I still write Disney reviews, too. What we really enjoy, though, is reading what all you have to say; >) Come on over and join us at at Disney Traveler Reviews
