Disneyland trip report 2008

I will make short and sweet. I am a Disneyworld girl and I was a little leary about venturing out to Disneyland but I now have to say everyone should see Disneyland at least once it their lives. It’s different but yet the same. I really like how the Disney hotels are in walking distance, no buses to deal with and how Downtown Disney is right in the center, so you are right in the heart of everything. We visited Disneyland September 13-18, 2008. The weather was very nice, not at all like Disneyworld in September, hot, sunny but no humidity and no rain. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, in the Magic tower and had a beautiful room overlooking the pool.

The room was very roomie and I was very pleased with the size of the bathroom. Right outside the tower was the beginning of Downtown Disney and you walked through the shops and restaurants (about a 10 minute walk if that) and the entrance to both parks was right there. There is also a monorail stop in Downtown Disney that you could take and enter in Tomorrowland.

Sleeping Beauty’s Castle is small and you can not see it very well in the park, so it was hard to find that center landmark to know where you are in the park, but with the map we managed just fine. The rides are very different at Disneyland with Alice and Wonderland, Matterhorn and the Storybook Land Canal Boat ride it was something to experience. Also Tower of Terror is way different at California Adventure then at Hollywood Studios, there is no ride through the attraction, so if you are waiting for the buggy to move forward, it does not it just drops. I liked California Adventure better. Speaking of California Adventure it is a very nice park, reminds me of Disney Hollywood Studios in the front of the park and then Paradise Pier is like an old fashion boardwalk. California Adventure is suppose to be getting a big overhaul in the next few years, so we may have to venture back out there to see that.

Dining at Disneyland is not anything like Disneyworld, you really do not need advanced dining reservations, but of course hard habits are hard to break so I did make a few. The Blue Bayou and at Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian Hotel.

I have to say I am still a Disneyworld girl but I do like Disneyland a lot and if it wasn’t so far away from Pittsburgh, PA I may be torn between the two.

But the itineraries are really something to be excited about and people are excited.
