Disney World Outside The Theme Parks

In my last blog, I told you about some exciting things that you could do after dark in the parks.  Today, I want to share some activities that you can enjoy outside of the Walt Disney World theme parks.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve always said that I’m going to visit the Walt Disney World Resort and not buy any park passes.  I just want to relax, visit the resorts, eat and shop!  Most people just look at me like I have 3 eyes!  But, there are a number of things to do without visiting the parks.

One of my favorite things to do, after dark, is enjoy the fireworks without the park crowds.  If you are looking for a great, romantic meal, I suggest the California Grill at the top of the Contemporary.  Not only is the food incredible, the view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks is breathtaking!  When the show starts, the lights are dimmed and the music is piped into the restaurant.  They have an outside walkway that you can stand on, if you would rather enjoy the night air.

Looking for a  beach scene? A great place to enjoy the MK Fireworks is on the sandy beaches of the Polynesian Resort or the Grand Floridian.   The night sky explodes with gorgeous colors over Cinderella’s Castle.

Love EPCOT‘s  Illuminations:  Reflections of Earth?  The resorts surrounding the Boardwalk are where you want to be around 9:00pm.  The Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk all share great views of the evening show.  The bridge connecting the Beach Club and Boardwalk is a great viewing location!

Are you ready for acrobats,  aerialists, break dancers, singers, trapeze artists, jugglers and clowns and more?  Then look no farther than Disney’s West Side for Cirque Du Soliel, La Nouba.

Is a grown up night on the town what you’re looking for?  Disney has a plethora of entertainment for the grown ups.  If you are in the Disney Springs area, try Paradiso 37, House of Blues and Raglan Road Irish Pub.  If you’re on the other side of the resort area, head to the Boardwalk.  Jellyrolls, AbracaBar and Atlantic Dance Hall are always filled with fun and laughs!

Maybe you’re in need adult relaxation.  Be sure to grab a reservation at one of the fabulous spas located around the Disney resort area.  Enjoy a Swedish Message, Apple Hydrotherapy, Tropical Coconut body treatments, Berry Bliss Facials and so much more.  Not only is it a renewal for the body, it’s a treat for the nose too!

For some non theme park family fun,  head over to Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Mini Golf and putt a few rounds.  When you’re done, you can head to one of several resorts that offer private carriage rides.  While you’re at the resort, take in a campfire and a  movie under the stars.  Several of the on site resorts offer s’mores over the fire followed by a nightly Disney flick.  Be sure to check out the schedule to see which movie you want to see.

So, as you can see, Disney magic and fun isn’t just during the day or in the theme parks.  Next time you visit, try to take some time, outside the parks, and just relax.
