The Force is coming back to Walt Disney World this Spring! Disney Hollywood Studios will host Star Wars Weekends on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 16 through June 15, 2014. The theme is “Join the Rebellion.” The celebrity host for this year’s event is James Arnold Taylor. He is the voice of hundreds of Star Wars animated characters. The special event happens around Star Tours the Adventure Continues. This a very popular attraction at Disney Hollywood Studios. Guests experience a galaxy filled with adventure aboard a Starspeeder 1000 in amazing digital 3-D. Theme park admission is required to attend the Star Wars Weekends events. Make sure you get the weekend event map when you enter the theme park. It will have up-to-the-minute information about entertainment and appearances. If there is an event you don’t want to miss, plan to arrive early for it.
Tips For Star Wars Weekends ~ Parades, Autographs, Shopping
You will see lots of guests in costume. Be noticeable! Disney loves noticeable. The Disney Side theme is popular now. I am sure Disney will love when guests show their Star Wars Disney Side. Good planning is a must to fully enjoy Star Wars Weekends. Before you arrive make sure you have your Fast Pass+ choices picked out. Choose times for later in the day and use your very early morning arrival to get to the first event you want to attend. If you want to dine at one of Hollywood Studios sit down restaurants plan that dining before you travel, too.
Arrive at the theme park at rope drop to get the full experience. This means you should get there up to an hour before the park opens. Make sure you check the map for the weekend events because times can change. All the different Star Wars events and locations will be noted on the map. The meet’n’greet time and location will be noted for each celebrity. There will be long lines for everything; patience is the key. There is a Star Wars Motorcade each day at noon. You will see the parade route on your map. If you want to get a good spot for the parade get to it really early. The Jedi Training Academy is very popular during Star Wars Weekends. Check the map for times and arrive really early to be right in front. I have heard the storm troopers are fun to bug. They will give you some good reactions.
Do you have a certain Star Wars souvenir in mind? If you see it, don’t wait to buy it. Things do sell out. Tatooine Traders will have everything that is available. This store will be very crowded all the time. In particular just after the motorcade the store is mobbed. You can find many of the souvenirs for Star Wars weekends in other stores. If you plan to visit the store during the motorcade or during any of the Q & A sessions crowds will be lighter. Or, head to the store right when you enter the theme park in the morning.
Expect big crowds all day around the Star Tours attraction. The theme is arrive early and be patient. At the very end of the day the crowds will lighten. That will be the best time to experience Star Tours the Adventure Continues. Stay for the evening fireworks. “Symphony in the Stars” fireworks will be shown each night at 9:45 pm. The biggest crowds will be on Sunset Boulevard. A great spot is right in front of 50’s Prime Time Café. Hang back when the theme park closes and savor the end of the busy magical day.
