Disney Dining Updates ~ Disney World

Disney Dining Seared Diver ScallopsWhen I am planning my Disney vacation one of the first things I consider is where I will dine.  In particular when I travel to Walt Disney World, I love to try new restaurant.  I also love to visit my favorite dining spots.  Two of my favorite Disney dining experiences have seen changes.  One of the best restaurants in Walt Disney World just got a complete makeover.  The California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is re-opening on September 9, 2013.  Your Disney dining experience there will be amazing.  Sommerfest is a counter service restaurant in Germany at Epcot.  I love stopping there for a quick German meal.  They have refreshed their menu.  As of September 1, 2013 there will be new dishes to try.

Disney Dining at the California Grill a Disney Signature Restaurant

Disney Dining Pacific HalibutIf you have not yet dined at the California Grill you are missing a wonderful Disney dining experience.  The views of Magic Kingdom and the Seven Seas Lagoon are amazing there.  The food is prepared by Disney chefs and is superb.  Disney  remodeled California Grill.  It re-opens on September 9, 2013.  You can start making your dining arrangements on August 26, 2013.  The complete transformation of the restaurant is described by Disney as ‘a sleek, contemporary interpretation of mid-century modern California design, with warm oranges and yellow hues reminiscent of the 1950s.’  The restaurant has artwork created by Disney legend Mary Blair.  There is a communal table for 10 that faces the best view of the fireworks from Magic Kingdom.  I bet it is a grand spot to sit!  You will also see a magnificent wine rack at the entrance to the restaurant.  It holds 1600 bottles of wine!

Disney Dining at Sommerfest Counter Service Restaurant

Disney Dining Nudel GratinDisney dining in Epcot is always an adventure.  I love all the different flavors found around the World ShowcaseBiergarten in Germany is a favorite for my family.  We love the Octoberfest!  If we aren’t doing any sit down meals on a short trip we do stop at Sommerfest for a meal.  Sommerfest is the counter service restaurant in Germany.  It is marvelous!  I have always been happy with the selection.  The chef has added to the menu there.  You will find a few more colorful items from several different regions of Germany.   Food that is colorful is always more healthy for you.  In particular there is a German style macaroni and cheese that is new to the menu.  It is made with Swiss and Cheddar cheeses and a pinch of nutmeg.  Here is a link to the recipe.

Enjoy the many tastes of Disney World!
