How exciting is this news?! The movie AVATAR, which was a huge hit in theaters, is coming to life in Disney Theme Parks! Disney is keeping things fresh, and before the construction of the new and improved Fantasyland is even complete they have made an official announcement about this plan!
James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Filmed Entertainment, in partnership with producing partner Jon Landau, are partnering with Disney Imagineering for this project. Announced just today, The Disney Theme Park Animal Kingdom will be the first Disney vacation location to feature AVATAR. Keeping up with their image, it isn’t going to be a small feature, no, not at all! Disney is going to create an entire Land dedicated to AVATAR at the Disney Animal Kingdom Theme Park!
This is an ongoing project, with two sequels to the movie AVATAR in production now. This Disney partnership with Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Filmed Entertainment, starting in Walt Disney World, is really something special. Guests will have the opportunity to experience the worlds, real, alongside mythical, of animals and nature. Themed alike in many ways; Disney Animal Kingdom and the movie AVATAR, both celebrate adventure, living in harmony with nature and environmental stewardship.
This will be a unique Disney vacation experience. This new Land is set to be built starting in 2013. I am thinking 2014 for opening? Looks like it will be a busy three years of new and amazing Disney vacation experiences!!

This is fantastic news. What a great partnership! Avatar will fit in nicely at Animal Kingdom, especially with the environmentally conscious theme. I am excited….and, as usual…. can’t WAIT!

RUMOR! News today that Avatar Land has been removed from the plans, and Disney is now looking at an Australia themed land in Animal Kingdom. This is something that was considered previously. I am hopeful about this because I don’t think many people were overly enthused about an Avatar Land. This is just a rumor, though, so we will see.
