If I had to pick one season that I enjoy the most in Walt Disney World, it would be during Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival. Disney really takes flowers and plants, and their beauty, and creates a show of nature. The 17th Annual Flower and Garden Festival runs from March 3 through May 16, 2010. Expect a wide array of beauty this year, and the early start date means Disney can make use of brighter colors, with more flower options.
A few highlights of the 2010 Flower and Garden festival include a waterfall at the front entrance to Epcot, celebrating the Great Outdoors. The elaborate topiary will have a North American theme. Goofy will be featured in a fly-fishing misadventure. Daisy Duck will be roasting marshmallows over a campfire. Pluto will be in his “pup tent.”
Take a walk around the World Showcase, and you will experience each country’s celebration of the Festival. For instance, in France a fragrant garden will tell a love story of plants and perfume. In Japan you will experience the art of Bonsai. The American Adventure Pavilion will have their first Community Garden, with Disney’s “fab five” topiary pals – Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy.
You can expect to see somewhere around 100 topiaries this year, including an American Gothic Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
When you plan your visit to Epcot, stay at an Epcot Resort, and you will be within walking distance of the Flower and Garden festival. The Beach Club Resort is a five minute walk. You can contact an OLP Travel agent today to start planning.
