I am very excited to report tonight that an original attraction in Disneyland 1965, is back in Disneyland 2009! Today, December 18, 2009, “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” has returned to Disneyland! Yes, Mr. Lincoln debuted at Disneyland, in the theater near the main Disneyland gate, in 1965. For many years now he was retired, with other attractions taking the space over. I am sure those who remember him from back in the 60′s will be excited to see him all freshened up. He was cutting edge back then, animatronics was such a new thing, and quite amazing.
Heading into 2010, you can expect to see a crisper Mr. Lincoln, smoother movements, and better expressions. His voice is still that of the voice actor Paul Frees, but it has been given a bit of a digital touch. Paul Frees does Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion, too. Disney has said that there is new Paul Frees audio played, that has never been played in the show, along with some other new additions.
It sounds like Disney is doing what Disney does best. They take what is old and familiar, and the give it a new fresh touch.
